Case study · National innovation organization
A national funding program, run on Power Platform.
A national advanced-manufacturing innovation organization needed its fund application process, intake, assessment data and funding calculations, automated end to end.
The challenge
Application data arrived as JSON and CSV files across disconnected systems including external file shares, with funding amounts calculated manually across related records. Volume made manual handling slow and error-prone for a program where accuracy is non-negotiable.
The approach
We designed the SharePoint information taxonomy to hold application data in related lists, libraries and Dataverse tables, built ETL processes with dataflows to pull JSON, CSV and on-premises SQL data into the model, and developed Power Apps for staff to create, edit and review applications. Power Automate flows updated application status and calculated related funding amounts across records using REST and Graph API calls, removing the manual arithmetic from the process.
The outcome
The organization gained an automated intake-to-calculation pipeline for its funding program: applications flow into a governed data model, statuses update themselves, and funding math is computed consistently rather than by hand. For Zohmar, this engagement is also direct experience with how government-adjacent funding programs run, experience we now apply in helping clients access digital-adoption funding.
